Student Athlete Resolutions That Can Stand the Test of Time

Even though this blog was written in 2016, these suggested resolutions do stand the test of time.  Student athletes have a lot on their plates filling out their collegiate applications and ensuring that they stay on top of their college roster openings and scholarship opportunities.  New Year resolutions are often based on great goals but often fall short of expectations, perhaps the problems lies in that they are not as “user-friendly” as they should be.  Here are some suggestions to make your resolutions attainable:

  • Make a list of tasks that include due dates, figure out the most effective way for you to meet the deadlines
  • Break up your goals in to mini-tasks
  • Use baby steps to help you proactively improve your time management skills and minimize your procrastination
  • Work on setting up  yourself with a daily schedule for one or two things to accomplish
  • In your resolutions, include mini-goals for self-improvement and self-reflection

You are more than a student athlete, you are a person with goals and ambitions that include your sport and other personal goals.  Manage your time and improving your abilities to be a better person/athlete is the best gift that you can give yourself.  Happy 2018!!
