Future Stars is pleased to offer Basketball as one of our core sports-specific summer camp programs. Summer 2012 at Farmingdale State College will offer five weekly sessions.

The program is designed to teach boys and girls aged 6-16 how to be well rounded and team oriented Basketball players.
Campers will benefit from our philosophy of small group instruction, close supervision, emphasis on skills, quality game play and focus on sportsmanship and teamwork. The sessions offer specialized basketball instruction with an emphasis on the fundamentals of basketball including dribbling, ball handling, passing, shooting, and rebounding. Campers are grouped according to age and ability. Boys and girls programs will merge and separate as appropriate. Curriculum will vary for recreation, AAU, junior varsity and varsity players. Our staff features experienced high school and college coaches.
Farmingdale State College is located on 380 lush acres in the heart of Long Island. It is easily accessible from the Northern State, Southern State and LIE as well as most North and South shore locations along the Nassau Suffolk border.

athletics facilities
The outdoor facilities at the college include 6 NEW all-weather Tennis courts, a 20 station Golf driving range, as many as 8 Lacrosse/Soccer fields, Softball field, state of the art Baseball complex, NEW turf field, 1/4 mile track, hitting wall and numerous shaded recreation areas.
The indoor physical education and athletic facility named George E. Nold Hall encompasses 94,000 square ft. The main gymnasium consists of 3 regulation Basketball courts, 5 Volleyball courts, 4 Tennis courts, indoor track and seating capacity of 4,000. The facility also includes 4 Racquetball and 4 Squash courts, Golf simulator, large weight training complex, modern state of the art training room, men’s and women’s locker rooms, showers and lavatories.
Future Stars is proud to announce Basketball Camp Director Lawrence Combs, who is currently the Womens' Varsity Basketball Coach at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket.
During his tenure at Ward Melville, the Patriots have made the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs for four consecutive seasons. In the 2009-2010 season, the team reached the Suffolk County Semi-finals and set a school record with 18 wins. The team has had 6 All League players, 4 All County players, and 2 Long Island Second team players during his time there thus far. The team has been a New York State Scholar Athlete team every year since Combs has arrived and during the 2009-2010 season, the team has the highest overall G.P.A. in all of New York State.
Combs comes to Future Stars with a strong athletic background. He was a two-sport Division 1 football and basketball player at Central Connecticut State University and Mount Saint Mary College. After completion of his undergraduate degree, Combs served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Mount Saint Mary Womens' Varsity Basketball Team. He currently also coaches football and field hockey.
A Native of Smithtown, New York, Combs attended Kings Park High School, where he played basketball, football and baseball. He is Kings Park's all time leading scorer with over 1,000 career points.
Combs graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Mount Saint Mary College, and completed his Master's in Physical Education from Adelphi University.
