Farmingdale Soccer Camp

Future Stars is thrilled to offer Soccer as one of our core sports-specific summer camp programs.

Summer 2010 at Farmingdale State College will feature and offer eight weekly sessions.

The Soccer program is designed to create an atmosphere that encourages and develops players aged 6-16 to reach their full potential.

Throughout the week campers will cover all facets of the game including technical, tactical, physical and psychological concepts. The training methods will aim to foster the players love for the game using a progressive curriculum building from individual skills through small-sided challenges and ending in match conditions. Director and coaches are experienced and qualified individuals who work with various Long Island Soccer clubs on a year-round basis in addition to their school soccer and ODP commitments.

Daily Recreational Swim Included.

SoccerFuture Stars Method
Practices will cover Dribbling & 1st Touch, Short & Long Passing Techniques, Shooting & Finishing, Attacking Principles, Defensive Roles, Possession, Game Understanding & Movement Off The Ball, Goalkeeping, and more! Daily skills contests may include Speed Dribbling, 1v1 Ladder, Shooting Challenge, Juggling Contest, Goalkeeper Drills, and more! Team-work and Sportsmanship are emphasized.

Goalkeeping
Goalkeeping sessions will be offered for those campers who wish to focus on the technical and tactical elements of Goalkeeping. Coaches will conduct training drills and exercises which are designed to improve footwork, handling, shot stopping, kicking, distribution, angles and positioning. Goalkeepers will utilize their training daily in game situations

Soccer Team Training Discounts
Future Stars Soccer Camp is an ideal pre-season opportunity for teams as they gear up for the new soccer season. Teams will be trained as a dedicated group with an assigned coach and the team coach can request a team evaluation at the end of camp. Call for information on team discount packages.

Facilities:

SoccerFarmingdale State College is located on 380 lush acres in the heart of Long Island.  It is easily accessible from the Northern State, Southern State and LIE as well as most North and South shore locations along the Nassau Suffolk border.

The outdoor facilities at the college include 6 NEW all-weather Tennis courts, a 20 station Golf driving range, as many as 8 Lacrosse/Soccer fields, Softball field, state of the art Baseball complex, NEW turf field, 1/4 mile track, hitting wall and numerous shaded recreation areas.

The indoor physical education and athletic facility named George E. Nold Hall encompasses 94,000 square ft.  The main gymnasium consists of 3 regulation Basketball courts, 5 Volleyball courts, 4 Tennis courts, indoor track and seating capacity of 4,000. The facility also includes an indoor Swimming pool,  4 Racquetball and 4 Squash courts, Golf simulator, large weight training complex, modern state of the art training room, men’s and women’s locker rooms, showers and lavatories.

DIRECTORS BIO:

Farmingdale State Rams Men's Soccer Head Coach will direct and oversee Future Stars Soccer program. Coach Chuck Schimpf began coaching at Farmingdale State in the fall of 2003. Prior to coming to Farmingdale, Coach Schimpf was the Head Coach at Suffolk Community College - Western Campus for five years. During that time, Suffolk-West was ranked Nationally in the NJCAA each of his five years, including a #2 ranking in 1999. He was named both the NJCAA and the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA) Coach of the Year. Before Suffolk-West, Coach Schimpf was an assistant coach at Kings Point, Suffolk-Selden and Stony Brook University. Coach Schimpf is a former professional soccer player in the United Soccer League (Buffalo Storm - 1984) and the Major Indoor Soccer League (New York Express - 1985-1986). He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.
