Volleyball is an original American sport created by William G. Morgan, an instructor at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. In its inception, volleyball was originally called Mintonette and with some changes to the rules, it was known as volleyball by 1896.
