According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, recreational athletics can be especially therapeutic for kids with disabilities, with numerous physical and overall well-being benefits. Even though kids with delays and disabilities may not engage in organized sports in the same manner as other children, understanding the importance of inclusion is necessary for all parents. Whether or not your child has a disability, knowing the why’s and how’s of including children with special needs in sports makes team play possible and positive for everyone.
