Horseback Riding Summer Camp

Future Stars HORSEBACK RIDING Camp is a unique partnership between Future Stars Summer Camps and Horseability.

Campers enjoy a week of horsemanship and riding at Horseability, as well as additional recreational activities back on campus at OLMA each day.

Campers will learn and practice Horseback Riding, Horsemanship Skills, and Equine Science and Management.

From beginners who have never mounted, to more advanced riders that can walk, trot, canter, and jump, there is a place for all levels in the camp setting.

Groups are divided based on Horseback Riding experience and ability to provide the most cohesive lesson possible.

*Horseback Riding Camp has a limited weekly enrollment and we anticipate that sessions will sell out.

Horseability (Since 1993): Experienced instructors develop weekly curriculum to develop riders skills. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs of both the group and individual goals. Volunteer assistance is also available for those who may require additional support during their lessons. Instructors will teach proper fundamentals of English equitation in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.

Horsemanship Skills: Horseability instills in campers the ability to work safely and effectively around horses in a respectful manner. Through hands-on experiences provided such as leading, handling, observation, and grooming; campers learn how to understand the nature and “language” of horses giving them a solid foundation to build upon as they begin their relationships with horses.

Equine Science & Management: Each day will bring new fun and exciting knowledge and experiences with horses to our campers. During the summer, staff will cover many interesting topics such as breeds, colors/markings, basic veterinarian care, common ailments, equine management – feed/nutrition, farrier, dentistry, etc, stable management – paddock/stall care, farm safety etc.

Horseback Riding Staff: Jamie Thomas-Martin is the director of operations for Horseability as well as a certified riding instructor and a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill in Equine Studies. Jamie works closely with Future Stars to oversee the Horseback Riding program and instructors when campers are ‘on the farm’.

Horseback Riding Waiver: Future Stars Horseback Riding Campers will be required to complete and submit Camper Forms AND an additional Horseability Waiver prior to participation in the program.
