NEW Program : Updated August 10 
Future Stars are excited to announce a NEW Offsite Basketball program, in partnership with Next Level Sports , which will take place at their State of the Art Basketball Facility located in Huntington, conveniently located just off Jericho Turnpike (Rt.25) and New York Avenue (Rt.110)
The program will be following a modified half day schedule 9:00am-12:30pm for 3 weeks (Jul.13-17, Jul.20-24 & Aug.17-21) and a full day schedule 9:00am-4:00pm for 1 week (Aug.10-Aug.14).  We create an atmosphere that encourages and develops players to their full potential and use new creative methods from week-to-week.

The program will follow NYS and CDC Guidelines for ‘Day Camps’ and ‘Youth Sports – Return to Play’. Registered campers will be sent additional info on protocols, schedule, and other pertinent details prior to the start of the program.

The program will feature technical and tactical basketball training, as well as incorporating additional speed, agility, and quickness activities, recreational games, and fun challenges. Appropriate for boys and girls of all levels, our experienced coaches will provide a safe and fun environment.

*Snacks: For our half-day program, campers can bring a small snack to have during the day.  Please refrain from packing peanut based snacks.
*Lunch (Full-Day program ONLY): Campers must bring their own bagged lunch each day and will eat at staggered times. Please refrain from packing peanut based lunches.

Director: Glen Steinberg
Over 15 years’ experience coaching at all levels. Coach Steinberg has coached 3 separate youth basketball teams to win National Championships. He has served as a head coach at the Vince Carter Academy and has also coached for Adidas. Aside from his individual training, he has coached his own program which has sent numerous players to play at the college, international and NBA level.

Additional staff consists of experienced coaches and collegiate athletes who share their passion for the game with our campers.

 

FACILITIES

Farmingdale State College athletics department sponsors 18 NCAA DIII intercollegiate teams which participate in the Skyline Conference and Future Stars has access to all their newly renovated, state-of-the-art, athletics and academic facilities. From athletic fields to computer labs, our programs are able to make use of these great amenities.

Nold Hall – The Athletic Center
Most camp activities take place in and around the athletic center, which was newly renovated between 2015 and 2017. Our camp office during the summer is in the back hallway of Nold Hall, along with the athletic training room/infirmary.

Additional Campus Facilities include an Air Conditioned Cafeteria in the Campus Center and state-of-the-art Computer Labs and Classrooms in Lupton Hall, where many of our STEAM Education programs take place.

Specialty Camp Features include “The Water-Park” featuring our Big Kahuna Double Lane Waterslide, Giant Wave Slide, Inflatable Double Lane Slip’n”Slide, Sprinklers and Dunk Tank. Our “Game Tent” features a GaGa Pit, Ping Pong Tables, Nok Hockey Tables, Bag Toss, Kan Jam, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Giant Checkers, a Nukem Court and more!

Throughout the summer, we also bring in additional wet and dry inflatables, in addition to other fun and exciting apparatus' for our campers to enjoy. 

 

LEADERSHIP

At Future Stars, we take pride in our staff and feel it sets us apart from many other camps in the industry. Our team is comprised of Coaches, Teachers, Instructors and Student Athletes who share a passion for working with children and have experience and know-how in their respective fields.

Camp Director
Chris Griffin is the site director for all programs at Farmingdale State College. Throughout his childhood, Chris attended soccer and tennis camp at the Purchase College location (those were the only camps back then). He graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Finance and played Division 1 lacrosse in his years at the school. Chris was selected as a New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior Scholar-Athlete, one of four, outside the IVY League, in a class of less than 20 inductees. He has directed lacrosse and held assistant director positions at both the Farmingdale and Old Westbury locations. Chris has also helped oversee our indoor facility, Future Stars Southampton, in its inaugural seasons.

Assistant Director
Shane Flanagan will help oversee all programs at Farmingdale State College. Currently, the Athletics Director at the Waldorf School in Garden City, along with being a Phys Ed teacher and coach for Soccer, Softball and Golf. Shane graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS from Adelphi University and also earned a Master’s Degree from LIU Post. He is also the recipient of multiple academic achievement awards throughout his tenure in teaching. Shane has directed programs at our Southampton and Purchase locations and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to any and all programs he’s involved with. While at LIU Post, formally C.W. Post, Shane played for the men’s soccer team and was named MVP during the 2010 East Coast Conference Championship.

Office Crew
The hidden backbone of our camp operations during the summer. Interacting with parents and campers - on the phone, in person, or via email - you’ve probably had a conversation with someone “in the office” at some point during your child’s time with us. Kristen – A stand out soccer player that finished her career at LIU Post and currently a full-time substitute teacher on Long Island, whilst going for her Master’s in education. While at Post, Kristen received accolades such as All-East Region First Team and ECC Defensive Player of the Year. This will be her 4th summer with us and we’re excited to have her on the team.

Health & Wellness
Your child’s safety is our top priority and getting them home just as they arrived is not only up to our coaches, teachers and instructors, but also our Athletic Training Staff, or “camp nurse” as some families are used to. We are required by the Suffolk County Health Dept. to have certain qualified staff on hand, at all times, depending on the number of weekly campers. Our team has qualifications ranging from EMT, RTE, CPR, First Aid and Epi-Pen Certifications. Along with the staff listed below, many of our teachers and coaches also hold certifications required by their school districts or organizations.

Jennifer Bergstein – Head Athletic Trainer at Farmingdale State College. Jenn is an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer and holds RTE/CPR/First Aid and Epi-Pen certifications.

Jessica Dautner - Associate Athletic Trainer at Farmingdale State College. Jess is EMT certified and also an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer who holds RTE/CPR/First Aid and Epi-Pen certifications.

FAQ

Who are your staff members?
Our team members are comprised of Coaches, Teachers, Instructors and Collegiate Student Athletes who share a passion for working with children and have experience and know-how in their respective fields.

What are the ratios?
Typically, between 8 and 10 to 1. Rising Stars is more like 5:1

What happens during inclement weather?
Camp still runs as planned. Most programs will continue outdoor activities, weather permitting, otherwise, we have plenty of indoor space to utilize and programs will rotate within those areas.

What happens on really hot days?
Our coaching staff will take additional water breaks throughout the day and are even encouraged to take the campers on a stroll through the air-conditioned athletic center. Campers will be able to cool-off by our misting fans or even run through the sprinklers that we turn on. Water Park time would also be extended for the day.

What do I send to camp?

What is your tipping policy?
We do not have an official tipping policy because we believe it is a personal matter between campers, their families, and our coaches. Any gratuity given for services rendered are strictly optional and at your discretion. That being said, any and all gratuities are greatly appreciated.

Can I switch sessions and/or programs?
Yes. It is best that we know, at latest, the Friday before so that we can staff accordingly. We do not make changes after Monday. Please email farmingdale@fscamps with any changes.

Can I add sessions during the summer?
Yes. You can add sessions anytime, prior to the week you’re looking to enroll. The price will be at our current 1 week rate and will not include any previous discounts.

Do you have a camp nurse?
We have EMT’s and certified athletic trainers. Please see our “Leadership” section for details.

Are programs Co-Ed?
Most programs are co-ed. Please see our individual program pages for details.

How are campers grouped?
For sport specific programs, campers are grouped by age and ability. For programs like multi-sport, campers will be grouped mainly by age/grade.

Lunch

Campers can bring a packed lunch from home OR join our weekly lunch program.

As part of our all-inclusive and comprehensive camp experience, we offer a delicious and well-balanced daily lunch (additional $55 per week). Menus are planned for variety, taste, and nutrition so our campers can relax and enjoy themselves while preparing for their afternoon activities. Our staff will make sure your camper has the food they enjoy in the comfortable surroundings of the air-conditioned cafeteria.

Aramark is the year-round food service provider for Farmingdale State College. Their professional staff works full-time and is dedicated to culinary delights and food safety.

See our SAMPLE LUNCH MENU for an idea of what is offered throughout the summer. Meals rotate on a bi-weekly schedule, but some items may be offered more than once a week or on a daily basis, like our pizza station.

Special dietary needs can be addressed and food allergies are not a problem.

We are NOT “nut free” but “nut conscious” and roughly 90% of food available is nut free.

We also provide a snack for all campers towards the end of the day.

*Campers that bring their lunch eat in a separate air-conditioned café setting, in the same building, just beside the “buyers” cafeteria. This is per instructions from Aramark, as each camper on the lunch program is free to eat as much as they like while in the cafeteria. Our staff accompanies the campers in both locations and a trainer is on hand during lunch time. 

Waterpark

Each day, all programs will have 45 minutes to an hour to cool-off and chill-out in our designated “Waterpark” and “Game Tent” areas. Campers taking part in our entertaining waterpark activities will change in separate locker rooms for boys and girls and will be accompanied by multiple staff members to make sure they get in and out with no problems. Team members will assistance campers when needed and there are multiple bathroom and shower stalls for privacy.

The Waterpark features “THE BIG KAHUNA” – our inflatable Double Lane Waterslide that kids don’t want to leave and love sliding down over-and-over again! In addition, we have another "Big Wave" Waterslide, an inflatable Double Lane Slip’n’Slide, Sprinklers and Dunk Tank, where campers can try to dunk some of our staff on Fridays.

Our Game Tent area features a GaGa Pit, Ping Pong Tables, Nok Hockey Tables, Bag Toss, Kan Jam, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Giant Checkers, a Nukem Court and more! We’re always adding new games year-after-year and even break out the inflatable tug-o-war and other fun inflatables throughout that summer.
