Charlie VanDercook
Owner

Co-founder of Future Stars camps, Charlie was the original Director in 1980. He played tennis in high school, college and the 1976 WATCH circuit and then started teaching tennis in Lake Placid, NY. Charlie is also the former Director of Tennis at Banksville Racket Club, Westhampton Bath & Tennis, Hampton Athletic Club, and Green Hollow Tennis Club.

Bill Griffin
Owner

Bill partnered with Charlie and Future Stars in 1995. He played HS and College tennis and following graduation from Boston College in 1977 he became Director of Tennis at Larchmont Yacht Club for 28 years. During that time he directed several of Westchester’s finest indoor junior tennis programs at Sound Shore Indoor Tennis, New Rochelle Racquet Club, and Harbour View Racquet Club. Bill played the early professional platform tennis circuit and also coached at several Westchester Country Clubs. Bill's unbridled passion for sports, games, recreation, and fun in the sun, make this a great alliance.

Jordan Snider
Director of Operations and Director for Purchase College

Jordan has also seen the camps from the perspective of being a camper when growing up. He graduated from Rollins College with a BA in Psychology, and also has an MBA from the Stern School of Business, NYU. Jordan’s college tennis team won an NCAA National Tennis Championship during his tenure and was always top 4 in the nation. Currently, Jordan is Head Tennis Coach at Purchase College where he was named 2019 Conference Co-Coach of the Year. Additionally, he is President of Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club and coaches youth soccer, basketball, and baseball. Jordan met his wife Julie at Future Stars many years ago. Now their children, Emily and Eli, join Jordan at camp each summer soaking up all that the camp has to offer.

David Stapleton
Director at Old Westbury

Site Director for all programs at SUNY College at Old Westbury. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999. He brings over 15 years of experience in youth coaching and summer camps and previously NOGA Soccer. David is UEFA, USSF, & NSCAA certified Soccer coach who actively coaches on Long Island and is a staff coach for the LIJSL Coaching Academy.

Chris Griffin
Director at Farmingdale

Site Director for all programs at Farmingdale State College. Throughout his childhood, Chris attended soccer and tennis camp at the Purchase College location. He graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Finance. Chris played Division 1 lacrosse and was selected as a New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior Scholar-Athlete. One of four, outside the IVY League. From working maintenance during his college years, to Lacrosse Director and Assistant Site Director, at both the Farmingdale and Old Westbury locations, Chris knows camp from all perspectives. Chris has coached youth lacrosse and also helped oversee our indoor turf facility, Future Stars Southampton, in it's opening years.

Shane Flanagan
Asst. Site-Director, Farmingdale

Shane has 14 years of experience working with Future Stars in various leadership roles. He holds Master’s Degrees in both Childhood Education and Athletic Administration and is a certified New York State Physical Education teacher with 13 years of experience at The Waldorf School of Garden City.
Shane brings extensive camp and educational insight to the Farmingdale location and is passionate about helping children succeed.

Sean Johnson

General Manager at FS Southampton

Sean Johnson joined Future Stars Southampton in 2015 as a program director. In 2017 he took over as the General Manager and currently directs all year-round activities. Sean has demonstrated an exceptional aptitude for creating programs that are intrinsically valued in Southampton. Sean graduated with an economics degree and minors in English and Spanish from Baruch College in New York City where he played shortstop for the baseball team. Sean is a Southampton native and has been coaching youth baseball and basketball for 8 years. In his spare time, Sean enjoys travel, surfing, reading, fitness, and playing basketball.

John Mees
Director at SCCC-Brentwood

After serving as site-director of the Southampton location for 10 years, John decided to move closer to home and launch our St. Joseph's site. After growing St. Joe's into a successful location, John set his sights on Brentwood to do the same and it is now thriving under John's stewardship. John is passionate about education and summer camp. He believes that sports and academics have the potential to bring out the best (or worst) in each of us. With that in mind, John designed and implemented the character-development curriculum inherent in all program offerings at St. Joe's.

John has taught honors Spanish at Mount Sinai High School for the past 18 years. In addition to his classroom duties, John also coaches all three seasons comprising boys varsity golf, girls varsity basketball, and girls varsity golf. He has coached numerous league champions and all-state performers in golf, and helped lead the girls varsity basketball to Mt. Sinai's first Suffolk County title in 2017 and then again in 2019 and 2025.

Keith Greene
Asst. Site-Director, SCCC-Brentwood

After serving as the director of flag football and boys lacrosse at the St. Joseph's location, Keith will help launch the same programs at the Suffolk Community College site in Brentwood. In addition, he will serve as the camp's assistant site director.

Keith has an extensive background in athletics, competing in both football and lacrosse at Corland State University from 200-2008. Greene was an all-conference selection in both sports, playing in three lacrosse national championship games from 2006-2008. Cortland State won the National Championship in 2006.

Keith has taught physical education in the Brentwood School District for the last eleven years. In addition to his classroom duties, Keith has coached varsity football, basketball and lacrosse within the district.

Currently, Keith is the head coach of the girls varsity basketball team. Throughout his nine years as an assistant in the program, the team captured a league championship and went to three Suffolk County final fours (2014, 2015, and 2018). Keith became head coach in 2023 and in 2025, the team won its first County Championship in school history. Subsequent to the season, Keith was voted as Suffolk County Girls Varsity Basketball Coach of the Year.
Keith has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Smithtown East boys lacrosse team. During his tenure, the team made four playoff appearances, had four players selected as All-Americans, and captured back-to-back Suffolk County Championships in 2014 and 2015.
In 2024, in his first season as the head coach at Patchogue-Medford High School, Keith was voted Suffolk County Lacrosse Association Division 1 Coach of the Year.

Keith is excited to share his passion for and extensive experience in athletics with our campers.

Pablo Montesi
Vice President of Development

Pablo has worked with Future Stars since he attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on an athletic scholarship. After graduating with a business degree, Pablo joined Future Tennis on a full-time basis. Pablo has been responsible for coaching, staffing and programming at all of our Hamptons sites; Pine Hills Tennis and Golf Camp, Future Stars Southampton, Aspatuck Tennis Camp and Hampton Racquet Club, and is often on the road investigating and doing feasibility studies for new club/camp sites.

Amy Greene
Director at Patchogue

Amy Greene is the site director for Future Stars Patchogue. Amy began her college journey at Eastern Connecticut University where she played volleyball and was named Rookie of the Year and an All Conference First Team performaer. Amy graduated from SUNYCortland in 2008 and subsequently went on to receive her maaster's in sports managment from Southern New Hampshire University. Amy has taught phyical education in the Brentwood school district for 10+ years. In addition to her classroom duties, Amy coached volleyball for Riverhead High School, making a playoff appearance in 2013. She also coached 9 years at Brentwood. Amy is excited to share her passion and enthusiasm for sports and education with the Patchogue-Medford Community.

Margaret Kopcienski
Asst. Site-Director - Future Stars Patchogue

Margaret has been with Future Stars since 2018. During her tenure w/ Future Stars, Margaret has worked as a head coach of our basketball camp, office manager, and now is proud to serve as the assistant site-director at our Patchogue-Medford location. Margaret holds a bachelor's degree in history and master's in special education both from St. Joseph's University. During her time at St. Joe's, Margaret played on the women's basketball team and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Currently, Margaret is a special education teacher at Miller Place High School.

During her high school career, Margaret played AAU basketball all over the country and attended camps up and down the east coast. She helped lead her high school team to two Suffolk County Championship titles in 2017 and 2019, respectively. She is the founder and director of Basketball for All, a basketball clinic designed to give students with disabilities the opportunity to learn the game in a comfortable and appropriate setting. She looks forward to working with all the children and parents this summer at camp.

Dana Stein-Dince
Director of the Health Office at SUNY Purchase

Dana Stein-Dince has been the Director of the Health Office at Future Stars Summer Camps, SUNY Purchase campus since June 2014. She has been a member of the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps for over 17 years and an EMT-B since 2007. During the school year, she is a Special Education Teaching Assistant at the Robert E. Bell Middle School in Chappaqua – a position she has held for over 11 years.
