Video Game Design at Future Stars Old Westbury is part of our comprehensive STEAM Education camp experience. - Summer 2024 Dates = July 29 - August 2.
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math)
Technology helps us communicate, Math is the language, Science and Engineering are the process for thinking, and Art helps us merge form with function. All of these can lead to innovation.
An exciting weekly session developed for upper elementary and middle school aged Boys & Girls, this program follows a project based curriculum.
Campers will learn to design their own video games using Scratch, which is a visual programming interface. As campers create their games they will cover everything from digital art to game mechanics, with advanced Scratch concepts such as physics based simulation and cloning for more experienced Scratch coders.
Teachers will help guide campers as they develop valuable skills in algorithmic thinking, game design, and animation as they create maze games, platform games, gravity simulations and more.
Utilizing the state-of-the-art facilities on campus, campers will learn in collegiate classrooms and/or computer labs with all necessary equipment provided.
A typical daily schedule is available on our STEAM Education Camps page , with campers supplementing their curriculum work with the recreational swim, water slides, and recreational activity options.
