Future Stars BattleBots Camp is one of our most popular robotics programs, giving campers the opportunity to design, build, and compete in robotics engineering challenges inspired by the popular TV show. This camp is ideal for campers who enjoy hands-on learning, problem solving, and friendly competition.

Each day, campers tackle theme-based engineering challenges as they build and program their own robots. Creations are put to the test in the “ring,” where bots face off against one another. After each match, campers redesign and improve their robots, learning through experimentation and iteration.

Programs take place in collegiate classrooms and computer labs with all necessary equipment provided. Recreational games and swim activities provide a balanced day of learning and fun.

Sayville Middle School is located in the heart of Sayville, New York on the South Shore of Long Island in Suffolk County.

The school is conveniently situated just south of Sunrise Highway (Route 27) and easily accessible from the Southern State Parkway and other major east–west roadways serving Long Island’s South Shore.

Its central Sayville location makes it easy to reach from surrounding Nassau and western Suffolk communities.

Meet the Director

SUF_Carol Wilson

Carol Wilson

STEAM Education Director

Carol’s mission as an educator is to inspire her students each and every day to innovate and develop solutions to the challenges we face on a daily basis. To that end, Carol can’t wait to work with and have fun with our future scientists, engineers, coders and detectives this summer!

Carol is a distinguished educator of nearly thirty years. She has performed a variety of roles in the East Islip School District as a teacher of 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade. Most recently, Carol helped the East Islip School District to pioneer their S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) program, where she teaches students in grades 3-5 to create, design, and communicate in teams to solve everyday problems.

Carol holds an M.A. in Reading and Special Education from Dowling College, as well as a B.A. in Elementary Education and Spanish from Clemson University. She also holds an SBL degree in administration and is currently a supervisor of student teachers at St. Joseph’s University in Patchogue.

Carol was the head varsity volleyball coach at East Islip between 1994-2001, leading the Redmen to multiple Section XI playoff appearances, with teams consisting of athletes who would go on to compete at the college level in NCAA Division I and III. She was also selected in 2012 as the faculty recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award for Timber Point Elementary School.

In her time away from school, Carol enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending time with her two sons.
