DESIGN YOUR OWN STYLE

Future Stars Fashion Design Camp blends creativity, style, and hands-on artistry. Campers step into the role of designer as they build mood boards from fashion magazines, create color palettes, explore fabrics like cotton, silk, lace, and denim, and sketch original looks on fashion croquis. Each day brings a new finished project—from nature-inspired looks crafted with leaves and petals to upcycled designs and original sun and block prints.

Guided by experienced instructors, campers develop creativity, illustration skills, an eye for color and texture, and personal style. The week comes together in a mini collection that campers showcase at the Friday Fashion Show, so every camper leaves with a full body of work and the confidence to keep designing long after camp ends.

Programs take place in collegiate classrooms with all necessary equipment provided. Recreational games and water park activities supplement the daily schedule, giving campers a balanced mix of learning, creativity, and fun.

Carol Wilson

STEAM Education Director

Carol’s mission as an educator is to inspire her students each and every day to innovate and develop solutions to the challenges we face on a daily basis. To that end, Carol can’t wait to work with and have fun with our future scientists, engineers, coders and detectives this summer!

Carol is a distinguished educator of nearly thirty years. She has performed a variety of roles in the East Islip School District as a teacher of 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade. Most recently, Carol helped the East Islip School District to pioneer their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) program, where she teaches students in grades 3-5 to create, design, and communicate in teams to solve everyday problems.

Carol holds an M.A. in Reading and Special Education from Dowling College, as well as a B.A. in Elementary Education and Spanish from Clemson University. She also holds an SBL degree in administration and is currently a supervisor of student teachers at St. Joseph’s University in Patchogue.

Carol was the head varsity volleyball coach at East Islip between 1994-2001, leading the Redmen to multiple Section XI playoff appearances, with teams consisting of athletes who would go on to compete at the college level in NCAA Division I and III. She was also selected in 2012 as the faculty recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Award for Timber Point Elementary School.

In her time away from school, Carol enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending time with her two sons.
