STEAM Education is still a new movement in American Education and is in place to help teachers and their student understand how the academic disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics impact their world and prepare them for the workforce of tomorrow. STEAM is multidiscipline based, incorporating the integration of other disciplinary knowledge into a new whole. Technology helps us communicate; Math is the language; Science and Engineering are the processes for thinking; art promotes creativity: all this leads to innovation.
Future Stars STEAM Education Camps aim to engage campers entering grades 3-10 in a series of innovative fields not seen in traditional school education settings. Experienced teachers and instructors from RoboMindTech and 3DprintingEdu have developed exciting and engaging STEAM curriculums for campers to participate in fun, hands on activities and projects aiming to inspire campers outside of the school year.
Project based learning affords the campers the opportunity to excel at their own pace. From introductory activities to more advance assignment, there’s something for everyone!

Art Camp & MakerSpace Director: Lisa Rundo
Hi! My name is Lisa Rundo and I have been a teacher for 34 years. I have taught in London, Brooklyn and Long Island. Most of my years were in the classroom and I loved every minute of it. In recent years, I have been a STEM Teacher at Lindell Elementary School in Long Beach. It is very exciting to have every student in the school. We enjoy many activities such as Coding, Engineering and Inventing. You can also find us learning about outer space, our class pets (including aquatic frogs, Beta fish, fiddler and hermit crabs), ecosystems and our planet Earth. I love learning alongside my students, and getting messy/making mistakes is part of my curriculum. Learning is about wondering, creating and enjoying the journey!
Additional staff consists of instructors and college students excelling in similar fields; Coding, Engineering, Robotics, 3D Printing, Art...

Throughout his childhood, Chris attended soccer and tennis camp at the Purchase College location (those were the only camps back then). He graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Finance and played Division 1 lacrosse in his years at the school. Chris was selected as a New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior Scholar-Athlete, one of four, outside the IVY League, in a class of less than 20 inductees. He has directed lacrosse and held assistant director positions at both the Farmingdale and Old Westbury locations. Chris has also helped oversee our indoor facility, Future Stars Southampton, in its inaugural seasons.
Behind the scenes is our office crew, the backbone of our camp operations during the summer. Interacting with parents and campers - on the phone, in person, or via email - you’ve probably had a conversation with someone “in the office” at some point during your child’s time with us. Kristen &Alexa – Both, educators and stand out soccer players at LIU Post and St. John's, resepectively. T With over 10 years experience combined in the Future Stars office, they we’re excited to have her on the team.
We're also happy to introduce Christie. The newest member of our office staff.
Health & Wellness
Your child’s safety is our top priority and getting them home just as they arrived is not only up to our coaches, teachers and instructors, but also our Athletic Training Staff, or “camp nurse” as some families are used to. What are the ratios?
Typically, between 8-10:1. Exceptions are Rising Stars (5:1) and Tennis (6:1) on court.
What happens during inclement weather?
Camp still runs as planned. If possible, we prefer to have our programs continue with their normal programming. However, if and when inclement weather mandates we go indoors, we have ample indoor space to utilize and programs will rotate within those spaces.
What happens on really hot days?
Our experienced coaching staff will take additional water/shade breaks throughout the day. There are shaded areas and tents around the athletic fields where groups can rest between activities. Campers are able to cool-off by our misting fans or even take a quick run through the sprinklers that we turn on. Water Park time would also be extended for that day, not to mention access to air-conditioned indoor space.

See our SAMPLE LUNCH MENU for an idea of what is offered throughout the summer. Meals rotate on a bi-weekly schedule, but some items may be offered more than once a week or on a daily basis, like our pizza station.
Special dietary needs can be addressed and food allergies are not a problem.
Aramark in now a "nut-free" food service provider at Farmingdale State College.
We also provide a snack for all campers towards the end of the day.
*Campers that bring their lunch eat in a separate air-conditioned café setting, in the same building, just beside the “buyers” cafeteria. This is per instructions from Aramark, as each camper on the lunch program is accounted for and free to eat as much as they like while in the cafeteria. Our staff accompanies the campers in both locations and a trainer is on-site during lunch time.
Each day, all programs will have 45 minutes to an hour to cool-off and chill-out in our designated “Waterpark” and “Game Tent” areas. Campers taking part in our entertaining waterpark activities will change in separate locker rooms for boys and girls and will be accompanied by multiple staff members to make sure they get in and out with no problems. Team members will assistance campers when needed and there are multiple bathroom and shower stalls for privacy.
The Waterpark features “THE BIG KAHUNA” – our inflatable Double Lane Waterslide that kids don’t want to leave and love sliding down over-and-over again! In addition, we have another "Big Wave" Waterslide, an inflatable Double Lane Slip’n’Slide, Sprinklers and Dunk Tank, where campers can try to dunk some of our staff on Fridays.
Our Game Tent area features a GaGa Pit, Ping Pong Tables, Nok Hockey Tables, Bag Toss, Kan Jam, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Giant Checkers, a Nukem Court and more! We’re always adding new games year-after-year and even break out the inflatable tug-o-war and other fun inflatables throughout that summer.
Click HERE to see a video showcasing our facilities, including some shots of the waterpark and game tent. Not all water features may be shown, as some specialty slides are rented week-to-week for additional water fun!
