Future Stars Soccer Camp (ages 6-14) creates an atmosphere that encourages and develops players to reach their full potential.  Throughout the week, campers - of all levels - will cover all facets of the game, including technical physical, and psycological concepts.
Experienced coaches and collegiate players lead instruction in dribbling & ball mastery, game understanding, Skills Challenges, scrimmages, World Cup Games and more!  The training methods will aim to foster the players love for the game using a progressive curriculum building from individual skills through small-sided challenges and ending in match play and game-like scenarios.  Campers are grouped by age and ability, with curriculum and training focus varied accordingly.  Join us on the pitch this summer at Future Stars!

LEADERSHIP

John Mees – tenure w/ Future Stars – 17 years.

After serving as site director of our Southampton location for 10 years, John decided to move closer to home and launch our St. Joseph’s site. After growing St. Joe's into a successful location, John set his sites on Suffolk to do the same.
John is passionate about education and summer camp. He believes that sports and academics have the potential to bring out the best (or worst) in each of us.  With that in mind, John designed and implemented the character-development curriculum inherent in all program offerings at Suffolk (Sportsmanship, Leadership, Attitude, Responsibility, Teamwork).

John has taught honors Spanish at Mount Sinai High School for the past 14 years. In addition to his classroom duties, John also coaches all three seasons comprising boys varsity golf, girls varsity basketball, and girls varsity golf. He has coached numerous league champions and all-state performers in golf and helped lead the girls varsity basketball to Mt. Sinai's first Suffolk County title in 2017 and another in 2019.

John received his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill and went on to earn master's degrees from both the University of Connecticut and Stony Brook University.

John lives in Sayville with his wife and son.

Keith Greene – Asst. Site-Director – tenure w/ Future Stars - 5 years

Coach Keith has an extensive background in athletics, competing in both football and lacrosse at Cortland State University from 2004-2008. Green was an all-conference selection in both sports, playing in three lacrosse national championship games from 2006-2008.  Cortland State won the National Championship in 2006.

Keith has taught physical education in the Brentwood School District for the last eleven years. In addition to his classroom duties, Keith has coached varsity football, basketball, and lacrosse within the district.

Currently, Keith is the head coach of the girls varsity basketball team. Throughout his nine years as an assistant in the program, the team captured a league championship and went to three Suffolk County final fours (2014, 2015, and 2018).  As head coach, the team made their first playoff appearance in 2022.

Keith has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Smithtown East boys lacrosse team.
During his tenure, the team made four playoff appearances, had four players selected as All-Americans, and captured back-to-back Suffolk County Championships in 2014 and 2015.

Keith is excited to share his passion for and extensive experience in athletics and academics with our campers.

FAQ

Who are your staff members?
Our staff comprises coaches, teachers, instructors and collegiate-student athletes who share a passion for working with children and have experience and know-how in their respective fields.

What are the ratios?
Typically, between 8-10:1. Exceptions are Tennis (6:1) and Little Stars (4:1)

What happens during inclement weather?
Camp still runs as planned. If possible, we prefer to have our programs continue with their normal programming. However, if and when inclement weather mandates we go indoors, we have ample indoor space to utilize at main campus. Occasionally, the multi-sport program will take off-site trips on rainy days, such as bowling, air-trampoline, etc.

What happens on really hot days?
Our experienced coaching staff will take additional water/shade breaks throughout the day. There are shaded areas and tents around the athletic fields where groups can rest between activities. Campers are able to cool-off by our misting fans or even take a quick run through the sprinklers that we turn on. Pool time and/or Water Park time would also be extended for that day, not to mention access to air-conditioned indoor space.

What do I send to camp?
Please follow this link for
“What To Bring”.

Can I switch sessions and/or programs?
Yes. You can do this anytime throughout the summer, pending availability. Our office must be notified on the Friday of the prior week so that we can staff accordingly. We cannot make changes after Monday. Please email admin@fscamps.com with any changes.

Can I add sessions during the summer?
Yes. You can add sessions anytime, prior to the week you’re looking to enroll, pending availability. The price will be at our current 1-week rate and will not include any previous discounts, aside from our sibling discount.

Do you have a camp nurse?
We have EMT’s and certified athletic trainers. Please see our “Leadership” section for details.

Are programs Co-Ed?
Most programs are co-ed. Please see our individual program pages for details.

How are campers grouped?
For sport specific programs (soccer, basketball, baseball, etc.), campers are grouped by age and ability. For our popular multi-sport program, campers will be grouped mainly by age/grade.

CHARACTER

Safety is first for a reason. Ingrained in everything we do, safety paves the way for our campers to thrive in a healthy environment.
Teamwork challenges our campers to collaborate thoughtfully and teaches us that, “we are not on a team because we work together, we are on a team because we respect, trust, and care for one another.”
Attitude is everything, our coaches discuss both the good and the bad of attitudes; guiding campers to consider the power of an open and growth-oriented mind.
Responsibility fosters a supportive and thriving community, which takes effort from every single member. We encourage every camper to take ownership of their actions, just as they do their belongings.
Sportsmanship is more than just a handshake at the end of a game. We encourage our campers to honor differences and celebrate similarities of everyone in our community, all the while playing hard and playing fair.

What does it mean to be a Future Star?

Our S.T.A.R.S. acronym tells our campers and parents of what it means to be a part of the Future Stars Southampton family. We aim to help our campers understand the value and interconnectedness of Safety, Teamwork, Attitude, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. Through fun and engaging activities each day of every camp week, our staff of professional coaches/educators emphasizes one of these values, discussing its importance and encouraging campers to recognize the power they hold to contribute positively to a community or a team. Whether on the baseball field, in a chess match, or on a paddle board, we strive to equip every camper with the tools to be a Future Star for any community they may be a part of!
